STYLING & ART DIRECTION

THE VALUE SHIFT

Editorial based on a trend vision for 2030

For a creative industry, fashion is not so creative with keeping up with the major "changes" we are seeing in our environment. There is still too much polluting production, too little appreciation and innovation for materials, and too much clothing ends up with the still growing clothing waste. These are just a few examples, so I think our values must shift if we want to turn the tide. This has resulted in my trend vision for 2030: The value shift.

All clothing pieces in this editorial are from upcoming designers in the Netherlands. They each work in their own way for a better future, from sustainable materials to local production and crafts, they do it all. I also started with myself. For this editorial, I went from fast fashion styling to handmade pieces in the Netherlands, but I also made outfits myself. In the years that I have been studying fashion, I have collected a lot of materials. I decided to bring these together by weaving and apply them in my own designs.

Fashion is about communicating your identity and it will remain this way. Everyone has their own values that we hold on to as a person, that is why it’s so important to start with yourself. Change is around the corner. When we are all part of the whole, we are automatically part of the solution.
